I wrote an essay on my life, how I came to be an artist, and how I’ve been able to continue making art through the decades, and you can read it in Last Artist Standing: Living and Sustaining a Creative Life, along with the essays of many other artists, all of us over the age of 50. The essays describe our lives, the joys we find in our work, as well as difficulties relating to health, finances, the responsibilities of caregiving, and more. Each and every essay is moving and encouraging, as the artist speaks their truth. Thank you to editor and artist Sharon Louden for inviting me to be part of this collection. Last Artist Standing is the third volume in the Living and Sustaining series, and can be bought through the University of Chicago, publishers of the series.
